Bodily Ruin

the history

Bodily Ruin’s origins began late November in the year of 2017, when original band mate Ogre (Luis
Hernandez) fiddled with the idea of forming a death metal band with Deadking (Brian Gomez), current
singer of Bodily Ruin; both formal members of Shredder before the band disbanded. The initial band
idea was to have influences of infamous metal bands such as Gorguts and Brutality, with a touch of
originality. Moving forward with the band idea, Deadking and Ogre recruited Albert Pineda, former
drummer, and singer for BrainDead (Hollywood). Together they threw in ideas and plans that sparked
the beginning of what today is known as Bodily Ruin. Choosing the band name however was not an easy
task as they had to decipher between three other band names: Sacrefixion (Insanity Song), Servant, and
Bodily Ruin. After long deliberation and conflicting ideas, the band name Bodily Ruin was came out
triumphant above the two other possible band names and in early 2018 was established as the official
name of Bodily Ruin.
In March of 2018, Chris Ramos joined Bodily Ruin as the original bassist, making the band whole. Later
that year, and after many hours and months of endless practices their first show was booked with
TimeWarp Records. Soon after, Albert returned to the Marines and Ogre departed due to school and
Bodily Ruin had to look for replacements. Robert Garnhart, former drummer from Serpentance, filled in
as Drums and Danny Hernandez as lead guitarist. In late 2018, the work on their first single band;
Ageless, was completed and released in March of 2019. In the year of 2019, Bodily Ruin was at its
busiest, playing local shows and having to replace Chris whom departed due to personal reasons. Vik
Villalta (Bassist/back-up vocals) joined Bodily Ruin in May of 2019 and soon started the recording of
their first demo called “Malevolent Existence”, which was officially released on August 30 th that year.
During this time, Bodily Ruin was also preparing for the biggest performance thus far; opening for
Legendary bands such as The Nile and Terrorizer at The World Famous Whiskey a Go Go, on Sunset Blvd.
The year 2020 has brought upon many unforeseen events that put a halt to many projects that were
planned for this year along with the temporary step back of lead guitarist, Danny Hernandez. Since
Danny’s departure we have welcomed new lead guitarist Chango (Luiz Nunez) and have released a split
with Kushfrost. 2021 now here chango has left due to personal reasons but with shows, events and businesses slowly returning we have teamed up with Horus (Nathaniel Boyd Trujillo) as lead guitars to start working on our E.P. We currently adhere to all Covid-19 precautions while practicing to avoid the spread of
Covid-19 and we encourage everyone to do the same.
Thanks for checking out our page and hope you are all safe and in good spirits during these hard times.
